Lounge

The lounge has moveable furniture including couches, chairs, and tables for either your programming needs or personal relaxation. We have cable TV in the lounge so feel free to stop by between classes to catch the news or watch a few shows.

Resource Room

The resource room has a conference table that seats 15 people comfortably, and additional tables and chairs for larger meetings/gatherings. Furnitures in the room can be easily rearranged for lecture-style presentations or film/video screenings. The room is also home to our collection of multicultural resources (hence its name), which include books, journals, and magazines on cultural and diversity issues. Feel free to browse through our collection during business hours. But we are *not* a circulating library--please do not take any of our volumes outside the Center! For a brief list of magazines in our collection, click here.

Full Kitchen

The kitchen has a refridgerator with freezer, sink, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven, and plenty of cabinets filled with various kitchen and cooking supplies. Be sure to turn off the stove and/or oven after using.

Reserving Space @ the MCC

Reservation Procedure
To reserve space at the Center, call us at (919) 684-6756 or stop by our office on the ground floor of the Bryan Center. We will need the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your group's name
  • A contact email or phone number
  • The date and time of your reservation
  • The space you would like to reserve
  • Any additional information regarding your program that will help us prepare for your reservation
You may reserve more than one space as well as make reservations for multiple days and times.

Key Pickup & Return
After your reservation is confirmed, you will need to pick up a key if your program is after 5:00pm on a weekday or any time on a weekend. A weekend program is any program that is after 5:00pm on Friday, any time on Saturday, or any time on Sunday.
For a program after 5:00pm on a weekday (Monday-Thursday), a key must be picked up on the day of your program (before 5:00pm) and returned the next day.
For a weekend program, a key must be picked up on Friday (before 5:00pm) and returned on Monday.

Cancellations
If you need to cancel your reservation, please contact us in advance so we can remove your reservation from the calendar. Courteous cancellation also allows other groups to reserve space during the date and time you originally reserved.

Computer and Printers

In the resource room is an iMac computer networked to two HP Laser Jet printers. To use the iMac, please speak with any staff member to get the username and password. The iMac has a variety of programs that you may use including:

  • Internet Explorer, Safari, & Firefox
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Adobe Suite: Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Reader
  • Macromedia MX Suite: Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash
  • iMac Suite: iMovie, iPhoto, iSync, and iTunes
  • Filemaker Pro
  • AIM

Note: Uhuru is the black-and-white printer and Lumina is the color printer. Please use Uhuru as much as possible; if your prints don't need to be in color, then use Uhuru. Help us conserve color ink because color ink cartridges are expensive.

Fax Machine

Next to the printer is a fax machine that you may use to receive or send faxes. The fax number is (919) 681-7565.

Print Resources

The Center subscribes to a variety of magazines that focus on entertainment, culture, socioeconomics, and politics pertaining to people of color. Our library also consists of numerous academic publications. Use our resources by visiting the Resource Room at the Center during business hours.
