8pm, Ark Dance Studio, East Campus, Free with Duke ID, General Admission: $5 at door. “Proof through Pictures” is an evening of moving, emotional and powerful solos. Since dancing as a child, Cruz’s dance work and goals has threaded itself through the fabric of personal, social, cultural, and religious traditions. This evening will excite, invigorate, and entice the audience by echoing their life experiences. Leonard Cruz’s solo dance work reflects the human desire to shape feelings, ideas, and images with an aesthetic sensibility. Leonard Cruz has been performing and reaching out to Communities around the world the past 18 years. From workshops, to lecture- demonstrations, informal to formal concerts, to organizing and developing dance festivals/programs for underserved populations. For 2008-2009 Cruz is Visiting Professor in Dance at Duke University. He regularly works in partnership with other dance and other art-form organizations, and with partners outside of the arts on areas of shared concern such as health, arts curriculum in education and disability.
